Wilcox Justin Wilcox is stepping down as publisher and advertising director of BANG’s Daily News after two years to become publisher of the newspaper in Johnson City, Tenn., according to a report in that publication. Bothun refuses probation, goes to jail

Former Palo Alto Daily News editor Brian Bothun was sentenced Tuesday to 204 days in jail on a misdemeanor conviction of possessing obscene material and, in an unusual move, refused early release on probation. Daily News switches page format again

Daily News trims 4.5 inches off the top

The Daily News (formerly Palo Alto Daily News) today switched to a smaller page size to save money. The free newspaper reduced its height from 16 inches to 11.25 inches. It’s also slightly wider, going from 10.75 inches to 11.375 inches. The switch reduces the image area on a page by about 25 percent. Former editor Bothun arrested again

Brian Bothun, former editor of the Palo Alto Daily News, has been arrested again on drug charges. This time Bothun was arrested at 4:50 a.m. on April 5 in a Palo Alto parking lot and booked for possessing and being under the influence of dangerous drugs, according to a report in The Almanac. He was cited for being under the influence of drugs by Menlo Park police in July 2008 and he was later charged with possession of child pornography

Daily News kills Sunday, satellite editions

The Palo Alto Daily News announced today that it has dropped its Sunday edition and will now print Tuesday through Saturday. In addition, the Daily News will stop printing separate editions for San Mateo, Burlingame and Redwood City. The Palo Alto edition will be distributed in Redwood City and San Carlos, however.
