Minutes of Peninsula Press Club Board of Directors meeting of Dec. 3, 2002, at the San Mateo County Times.
In attendance were: John Kane, Bill Workman, Darryl Compton, Ed Remitz, Jon Mays and John Horgan. Dave Price arrived late. The meeting was called to order at 10:05 a.m.
Minutes of the Nov. 5, 2002, meeting were approved 6-0. There was one alteration. The date of the club’s annual holiday party was changed to Dec. 11. The date had been Dec. 10. There was no treasurer’s report.
Darryl Compton said he continues to seek a location for the May 2, 2003, awards banquet. He said work is progressing on a fresh draft of a new contest entry form. He added that the deadline for contest entries will be Feb. 15, 2003. He also noted that he has received applications for five new club members. The typical membership fee is $35. He said he would like the club to provide him with a title, perhaps executive director. He would have a voice at meetings but no vote. That will be discussed at the Jan. 7, 2003, meeting.
Dave Price gave a report on the club’s Web site. He said all of the glitches which had plagued the site have been cleared up.
John Horgan said there was nothing new to announce regarding the future of the San Francisco Press Club and its financial problem with the Internal Revenue Service.
Jon Mays requested that, during a week when there is a Tuesday election, the club’s board meeting be changed to some other day, perhaps Thursday. That issue will be discussed at the Jan. 7 meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:28 a.m. The next meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 7 at the San Mateo County Times.
