In attendance were: John Kane, Jack Russell, Bill Workman, Dave Price, Darryl Compton and John Horgan. The meeting was called to order at 10:20 a.m.
Minutes of the Dec. 3, 2002, meeting were approved, 5-0. There was one alteration. The deadline for submitting entries for the club’s annual journalism contest is Feb. 28, not Feb. 15 as previously announced.
Darryl Compton said a site for the club’s annual awards banquet, set for May 2, has not been found. Some minor changes to the journalism contest entry form were made. It was decided to charge a bulk rate of $30 each for 40 or more contest entries from the same enterprise. The vote on that change was 5-0.
It was decided to send a card to Sam Gold, director of the club’s Web site. His father recently passed away.
There was no treasurer’s report because Michelle Carter was absent. It was noted that the club’s annual holiday party in Belmont attracted 28 people.
There was nothing new to report on the future of the San Francisco Press Club.
A proposed set of specified duties and responsibilities for a planned position of executive director was presented by Darryl Compton. There was an extensive discussion. It was determined to consider the matter again at the next meeting when more board members could be present.
On a 5-0 vote it was decided to move the regular club meeting time and day to the first Friday of every month at 11 a.m. at the San Mateo County Times. The next meeting will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 7 at The Times.
