Californians Aware is seeking nominations of “public-spirited private citizens, government officials or employees, attorneys or journalists” whose efforts have bolstered the cause of “free speech, assembly, petitioning or publication on matters of public concern.” Those chosen will receive NOVA awards — “a new star keeping Californians Aware.” Nominations can be submitted by mail or email. The CalAware web site has details and a list of previous winners. Deadline is Feb. 28. The NOVA awards will be presented at the CalAware Sunshine Week Conference in Sacramento, March 16.
