Newspapers have been complaining that Craigslist is taking away their classifieds by offering ads on the Internet for free. Reporter Mike Musgrove of The Washington Post reported this morning (Feb. 4) that Craigslist plans to charge $10 for apartment listings in New York beginning March 1. Craigslist already charges $75 for employment ads in the Bay Area, $25 in NY and LA. If Craigslist starts charging for other ads, newspapers will have a chance at getting back some of the business they’ve lost in the past few years.
This new site is pretty much just like craigslist but no personal ads and anyone can create their own classifieds for their specific community.
Not much there now but it could work.
