Bill Cardoso, who wrote for Rolling Stone, Harper’s Weekly, Ramparts and came up with the term “Gonzo” to describe the journalism of his friend Hunter S. Thompson, has died at age 68. The Chronicle reports the cause was heart failure. “He was a damn, damn good writer. Cardoso was a god among his contemporaries, looked up to by everyone,” said local journalist Warren Hinckle.
