LAWeekly columnist Nikki Finke says the New York Times will drop its stock listings April 1 (it’s not an April Fools’ joke) and replace them with a new Web site. Papers in Atlanta, Chicago, Denver and on Long Island have done the same thing in the past month. No word yet on whether any Bay Area dailies are thinking of dropping these pages. It’s a way of cutting costs without laying off journalists.
