Lack of J-school leaders feared

Former Merc editor and Knight Ridder news VP Jerry Ceppos (pictured) says he is worried about the huge number of openings for journalism deans and chairs that will develop in the next few years. In an e-mail Q&A with the Poynter Institute’s Gregory E. Ravre, Ceppos wonders how many people will want to fill those jobs. “Our schools are sunk if they don’t have strong leaders,” Ceppos says.
