LA Times Publisher Jeffrey Johnson (pictured), who refused demands by Tribune Co. brass that he make staff cuts, was shoved out the door this morning. Interestingly enough, Times Editor Dean Baquet hasn’t been fired even though he also balked at staff cuts. Friends of Baquet said the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist had not yet decided to remain with the paper. The firing comes at a time when the Tribune Co. is considering the sale of its assets, which include newspapers, TV stations, Web sites and the Chicago Cubs.
