New Yorker staffers will speak in Berkeley

New Yorker editor David Remnick will discuss his magazine with UC-Berkeley journalism school Dean Orville Schell tonight (Nov. 13) at 7:30 at Zellerbach Auditorium. Tickets are $10 through Cal Performances. The discussion is one of several the magazine’s staff will have through Wednesday at the university. Other lectures include an election analysis with senior editor Hendrik Hertzberg and contributor Mark Danner; a discussion on “Reporting from the Center of the Storm” with staff writers Jeffrey Goldberg, Jane Mayer and Lawrence Wright; and a preview screening of the new Jack Black movie “Tenacious D in ‘The Pick of Destiny.’ ” Many of the lectures are free, but others cost a nominal fee.
