At a private reception in 2005, President Bush twice praised the two Chronicle reporters for their stories on the use of steroids by professional athletes, the LA Times reported today (Nov. 14). “You’ve done a service,” Bush twice told Lance Williams, right, and Mark Fainaru-Wada, who are now facing the possibility of jail time because they will not reveal their source of a grand jury transcript to a federal grand jury. Ironically, it is Bush’s Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales, who authorized the prosecution of the two reporters.
