Religion writer discusses Esalen

The Chron’s Don Lattin, who has covered the religion beat for at least two decades, walks into a Columbia University School of Journalism classroom and is asked by the professor (Ari Goldman, a former religion writer at the NY Times) to discuss “Religion, California-Style.” The first word that pops into Lattin’s head is Esalen. And Lattin, in this review of Jeffrey J. Kripal’s new book “America and the Religion of No Religion,” explains the connection between the sexual-awareness resort and spirituality.
