Glenn Rabinowitz, previously copy desk chief for the San Jose Mercury News, has been named executive editor of the San Mateo County Times, replacing John Bowman, who resigned in May. Rabinowitz, 43, has worked in newsrooms since age 13 and has held almost every position, from editorial jobs to page designer. He served as managing editor of the San Bernardino County Sun from October 2000 to July 2005. “My goal is to improve the local news coverage in San Mateo County and provide the type of in-depth and comprehensive coverage that residents need in order to make informed decisions,” he said. Here’s the Times story announcing his appointment. The Times and Mercury News are part of the California Newspaper Partnership, whose majority partner is the Denver-based MediaNews Group headed by Dean Singleton.
