The July 1 fire that gutted a downtown Palo Alto building, causing $8 million in damage, was set in the office space previously used by the San Jose Mercury News, Palo Alto fire spokesman Dan Ryan told NBC 11. Police Sgt. Sandra Brown told the Palo Alto Daily News: “We’re looking for somebody.” But she added that police do not have any suspects.
