The trial over the Bay Guardian’s lawsuit against the SF Weekly’s owners appears to be delayed again. It had been scheduled to start today in San Francisco Superior Court, but court records indicate that the judge is asking lawyers to produce more paperwork before setting a new trial date. The Guardian, headed by Bruce Brugmann (pictured), claims the Weekly was selling ads at below cost in order to run his paper out of business, a violation of state law. The Weekly, which is owned by a chain of alternative papers called Village Voice Media, has denied the allegation.
