  1. What a morale booster! Great way to pat people on the back and tell them that they’re doing a good job. Why pick and choose who you can layoff when you can make everyone fear for their job instead. Excellent work. This is why MediaNews is so successful!

  2. Seriously, this may be the best layoff plan ever. Offer a buyout to whoever wants to leave, and if not enough take it, start axing .
