KGO-AM 810, which announced last week that it was bringing back its noon news, today revealed who will anchor the new newscast — Jon Bristow and Chris Brecher. Bristow has been a reporter at KGO and Brecher is co-anchor of the station’s afternoon newscast.

Meanwhile, KPIX CBS5 has hired a weekend anchor at the Fox station in Boston to co-anchor the morning news, according to a report out of Beantown. Frank Mallicoat will fill the vacancy left when CBS5 decided not to renew the contract of John Kessler. Mallicoat grew up in the Bay Area and some of his earliest jobs were in Northern California — at KKIQ-FM in Livermore and KIEM-TV in Eureka. He’s also been the top sports anchor at WJBK Detroit and WLVI-TV Boston. He’s been a news anchor since 2001.
Kessler tells media blogger Rich Lieberman that he is optimistic that he will return to the local airwaves soon.
