Santa Rosa Press Democrat staff wins Pulitzer Prize for Wildfire Coverage
The staff of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat won a Pulitzer Prize Monday for its coverage of the Sonoma County wildfires in October. The wildfires, which have been described as the most devastating in California history killed 40 people and destroyed 6,190 homes.
“For lucid and tenacious coverage of historic wildfires that ravaged the city of Santa Rosa and Sonoma County, expertly utilizing an array of tools … to bring clarity to its readers — in real time and in subsequent in-depth reporting,” wrote the Pulitzer committee.
