We look forward to seeing you at the awards ceremony at 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 7 at the Hilton San Francisco Airport Bayfront in Burlingame. This year’s keynote speaker will be NBC Bay Area Senior Investigative Reporter Stephen Stock.
Stephen has covered an array of stories, from hurricanes to space shuttles, Ford truck fires to fracking, day cares to aviation, inmate tax scams to California’s water crisis. He helped start the investigative units at WESH-TV in Orlando, Florida, then at CBS 4 in Miami. Stephen came to NBC Bay Area in 2012, where he joined other journalists in creating the nation’s largest investigative team at the time — 17 full-time investigative journalists. His notable awards include the George Foster Peabody and Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia University awards, which are considered the equivalent to print’s Pulitzer Prize. Other awards include a national SPJ, three Edward R. Murrow awards and six Associated Press awards, plus 17 regional Emmys and a national Emmy nomination. His work has prompted Congressional hearings and changed state law in Florida and California.
