SAN FRANCISCO – November 25, 2025 – The San Francisco Press Club announced today it presented legendary meteorologist Bill Martin with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
“I’m truly honored to receive the San Francisco Press Club’s Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Martin. “It’s been an incredible journey—more than 38 years in broadcasting—starting at KFTY in Santa Rosa, then two years with CBS, and the past 38 years at KTVU. This recognition means a great deal to me, and I couldn’t be more grateful to accept it.”
Martin is a Bay Area native who has informed and entertained KTVU’s viewers with engaging and accurate weather reports for more than three decades. He began working at KTVU in 1992, and he also worked at KRON, Channel 50 KFTY in Santa Rosa and KPIX. He returned to KTVU in 1996, where he spent the rest of his career. Following his retirement in 2025, he launched Weather Applied Metrics to provide game-day weather analytics to all Major League Baseball teams and several National Football League teams.
“Bill Martin isn’t just a meteorologist — he is the steady voice Californians have trusted for decades,” said Roberta Gonzales, meteorologist at KTVU FOX 2 and KTVU Plus. “His calm guidance through storms, wildfires, and blue-sky days alike has shaped the way we understand our weather and our world. Bill’s commitment, curiosity, and humility set the gold standard in our field and his legacy will continue to inspire every young meteorologist who follows. It is an honor to celebrate a career built on service, science, and heart.”
