SAN FRANCISCO – Oct. 29, 2025 – The San Francisco Press Club announced today that KQED has joined as a breakthrough-level sponsor for the organization’s 48th Annual Greater Bay Area Journalism Awards.
The awards gala will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, at the Julia Morgan Ballroom in downtown San Francisco. More than 300 journalists, media professionals and industry leaders will gather to celebrate excellence in Bay Area journalism.
“KQED has been serving the Bay Area with independent fact-based journalism for over 70 years,” says Ethan Toven-Lindsey, Editor in Chief at KQED. “We’re proud to stand alongside the San Francisco Press Club and our local media partners in celebrating journalism that deepens public understanding, amplifies diverse voices and strengthens democracy across the Bay Area.”
The December ceremony will recognize winners from the Press Club’s annual journalism contest, which received a record-breaking 910 entries this year. The gala honors outstanding work across categories including breaking news, investigative reporting, feature writing, photography and digital media innovation.

“We’re honored to welcome KQED as a breakthrough-level sponsor,” said Curtis Sparrer, president of the San Francisco Press Club and principal of Bospar. “As one of the Bay Area’s most trusted news sources, KQED embodies the integrity and public service that define great journalism. Their support underscores the importance of collaboration and community within our local media ecosystem.”
