New York Times executive editor Bill Keller, who grew up in San Mateo, lost his father George M. Keller, 84, on Friday from complications of knee surgery at Stanford Hospital. The elder Keller moved up through the ranks at Stanford Oil Company of California (Socal) to the position of chief executive officer.
