Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales and OhmyNews founder Oh Yeon Ho will join Dan Gillmor and Bill Gannon in conversation on “The Emergent World of Citizen Media” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Sibley Auditorium at UC Berkeley. OhmyNews is a South Korean Web site where 40,000 citizen journalists submit stories to editors, who generate a daily news report that has become influential in that country. OhmyNews has global expansion plans. Gannon, former editorial director at Yahoo, and Gillmor, director of the Center for Citizen Media, are co-teaching an online journalism course this fall at UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism.
