Metro Santa Cruz and the North Bay Bohemian have each been named as finalists in the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies annual contest, now in its 12th year. The association announces its finalists first and then reveals the order of finish at a luncheon at its annual convention, this year in Portland from June 14 to 16. Metro Santa Cruz is up for an award for editorial layout (by staffers Kara Brown and Tabi Zarrinnaal) and the North Bay Bohemian (Daedalus Howell) is a finalist for food writing and criticism.
