The student newspaper at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont has won 10 statewide awards from the California College Media Association. The Argonaut was second in the category of General Excellence and first in Overall Design. Award winners on the paper’s staff included: Erik Oeverndiek for Best News Photo, Best Sports Photo, Best Headline Portfolio; Bianca Nery for Best News Feature Story, Best Editorial, Best Arts & Entertainment Column; Geoffrey Farrer, Best Sports Column; and Christina Faust, second place editorial. The awards were presented at the College Media Association’s convention last weekend in Los Angeles, where Argonaut adviser Michelle Carter (a PPC board member) presented two workshops. The Bohemian, Notre Dame’s literary journal, took first place in the contest’s magazine category.
