Brad Kava of the Mercury News confirms on his blog that CBS-owned Free FM 106.9 has fired Darian O’Toole, its midday host. (See yesterday’s item on O’Toole.) Kava said he’s heard “ugly rumors” about a “dissheveled show two Fridays ago” that apparently got her into trouble. He asked the station if he could listen to a tape of the show, but was told they no longer keep recordings of previous shows. “She’s been fired from some big gigs, in New York and in San Francisco before, but this station seemed a natural fit. It’s hot talk, with young hosts, and it should have worked for her,” Kava wrote.
