Sam Chu Lin, renowed reporter, dies at 67

Sam Chu Lin, one of the first Asian American network TV correspondents and a writer familiar to readers of San Francisco’s Asian Week, has died at age 67, the AP is reporting today. Chu Lin, a Sunnyvale resident, also wrote articles on Asian American affairs for Asian Week, Rafu Shimpo and the San Francisco Examiner and made regular appearances on KQED’s “Pacific Time.” He has a story in the current issue (March 3-9) of Asian Week. Chu Lin was perhaps best known for his work in broadcasting. He was a CBS News correspondent in the 1970s. In the 1960s, he worked for a number of Los Angeles TV and radio stations. [Update: L.A. Chung of the Mercury News says Chu Lin paved the path for journalists.]
