NAME CHANGE: Ed motioned to change the club’s name to the San Francisco Press Club, dropping the word “Peninsula” from the title. Seconded by Jim Kirkland. Approved unanimously.
TAX MATTERS: Antonia said she got a letter from the IRS reinstating the club as a Section 501 (c) (3) nonprofit entity.
CONTEST: Terry Williams will be the director of the contest. Tentatively, the entry period would run from July 24-Sept. 15. Judging would occur between Sept. 15-Oct. 15 and the awards presentation would take place in the third week of November, time and location TBA. Antonia is exploring venues. Ed has pared down the categories in the contest, mainly to eliminate those that didn’t attract any entries in the past. The board discussed whether the presentation should occur on a Saturday, as it had in the past, or on another date, but that matter wasn’t resolved.
BOARD COMMUNICATION: Jon proposed the board use the Slack platform for communicating and transmitting documents. The board agreed to give it a try.
D&O INSURANCE: Dave explained the need for such a policy. The idea for getting this insurance was originally suggested by Carla. Dave has sent Antonia an application that needs to be submitted in order to get a solid price quote.
DEVELOPMENT: Board discussed strategy for obtaining corporate sponsorships.
Meeting was adjourned at 3:20 p.m.
