San Francisco Press Club’s Alexis Terrazas Honored by Society of Professional Journalists

San Francisco Press Club board member Alexis Terrazas was honored on November 14 by the Society of Professional Journalists of Northern California for his in-depth reporting and support for journalism students. Terrazas received the Silver Heart Award as part of the organization’s annual journalism awards program. The event was held in San Franciscoand gathered more than 200 journalists from all media. Nearly 500 students attend NorCal Media Day in Palo Alto

About 475 students from 45 high schools attended Saturday’s NorCal Media Day, the first formal collaboration between the San Francisco Press Club and Journalism Education Association of Northern California. The daylong event, hosted at Palo Alto High School, attracted schools as far away as Salinas and Sacramento to 50 sessions and an array of contests and critique huddles. Attention High School students, The San Francisco Press Club is partnering with JEANC (Journalism Education Association Northern California) to hold a High School Journalism Contest this year. The San Francisco Peninsula Press Club has changed its name to the San Francisco Press Club. This rebranding comes as the press club’s board has added new members with some fresh perspectives.
