Hit man suspected in killing of editor

Longtime Bay Area journalist Chauncey Bailey was shot and killed this morning on a downtown Oakland street by a masked man who jumped into a waiting van that sped off, police said. Police said they suspected it was a contract killing by a hit man, according to the LA Times. Oakland editor Chauncey Bailey shot dead

Oakland Post Editor Chauncey Bailey was gunned down this morning in downtown Oakland by a masked man who ran to a waiting van and drove off, police said. The shooting happened about 7:25 a.m. in the 1400 block of Alice Street. MediaNews reports that police have no motive for the killing, except that it appeared to be a deliberate attack, and no suspects have been arrested.
